Rights to demarcate, protect, and exploit Exclusive Economic<br \/>\nZones (EEZ) are increasingly considered as significant aspects of sea power,<br \/>\nstrategy and security. In the light of recent hydrocarbon discoveries, a certain<br \/>\nsense of disagreement has arisen among littoral states on how to equitably<br \/>\nshare the off-shore wealth, leading to formation of a U.S.-backed allied group<br \/>\nnamed the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF). Against the backdrop of<br \/>\nthis development, Turkey and North Cyprus (TRNC) increasingly find themselves<br \/>\nisolated from the energy conundrum. This article seeks to examine the<br \/>\nmounting instability in the eastern Mediterranean particularly with regards to<br \/>\nrising energy geopolitics, alliance behavior, and challenges in monetization of<br \/>\nthe region\u2019s recently discovered natural gas resources. By addressing a range of<\/p>\n<p>political, economic, and military insecurity issues related to offshore<br \/>\nhydrocarbons, this research highlights possible emergent threats, challenges,<br \/>\nopportunities, and responsibilities for related actors.<\/p>\n<p>The article conceptually views \u201calliance building\u201d within the broader context of<br \/>\nthe term \u201cnegotiation\u201d itself. Intrinsically, the assessment recognizes the<br \/>\nessential multilateral component in international relations and analyses issues<br \/>\nthat illustrate how factors in the possession, supply, and distribution of energy<br \/>\nresources may impact the outlook of conflict and cooperation in the region. It is<br \/>\nargued that coalitional arrangements in the EEZ dispute depict deal-making<br \/>\nbehavior and are inherently voluntary and unstable. Turkey and North Cyprus<br \/>\nshould be able to engage all stakeholders and create a positive atmosphere to<br \/>\ninvent options for mutual gain and try to pull away some members of the<br \/>\nEMGF coalition, by carrots and sticks, if not form an alternative coalition of<br \/>\ntheir own. This can reduce risks and vulnerabilities associated with the<br \/>\nendeavor of accessing, exploring, and exploiting energy resources in the region.<br \/>\nThe article ultimately seeks to discuss the instruments through which<br \/>\nhydrocarbon security challenges can be addressed such as advancement of<br \/>\nintensive political engagement among conflicting parties to build confidence<br \/>\nand resolve fundamental differences over competing claims of maritime<br \/>\ndelimitation, and of multilateral maritime security governance in the region,<br \/>\nparticularly in reference to the role of regional alliances.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-pdfemb-pdf-embedder-viewer\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tespam.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/4.pdf\" class=\"pdfemb-viewer\" style=\"\"
